I replaced the stamped dear head birch stocks (which I still have) with some new Walnut checkered stocks I got off of ebay! Now it looks like a 336sc (sporting carbine).You have a model 30A Glenfield (Marlin). It is nearly the same thing as the model 336 Marlin. Re: 16" - 18" barrels on 336 I always liked the 20" barrels on the 336 vs the 24" my brother has on his 336A. But after buying the 1894C with the 18.5" barrel, I really like the shorter barreled gun. I'm still contemplating cutting down the Glenfield 30A I recently acquired to 18". I just haven't found a smith to do it.
